2014 FIFA World Cup latest news 31st July 2007 Brazilian Football Association submits official 2014 World Cup bid A Brazilian delegation today officially submitted a 900 page dossier to FIFA showcasing its bid for the 2014 World Cup. Goal scoring legend Romario, now a member of the FIFA technical and development committee, was part of the delegation and assisted the lone candidates at the presentation in Zurich. The next stage of the process will involve an inspection team visiting Brazil in the next few weeks. FIFA president Sepp Blatter said, "Today we received the Brazilian delegation's dossier for its 2014 FIFA World Cup bid. A FIFA inspection team will now travel to Brazil to make a first-hand evaluation. The Executive Committee has nominated Hugo Salcedo from Mexico to head the delegation. We will be considering the bid from a social, cultural, economic and political perspective." It is by no means certain that Brazil will be able to host the tournament even though the 2014 World Cup is still 7 years away. Blatter's rhetoric remained cautionary as he went on to say, "There's still plenty of time. At previous FIFA World Cups we had a preparation phase of six years, now it's almost seven. If something doesn't work out we can start again from scratch." FIFA will announce the 2014 World Cup hosts on October 30th 2007.
